The Choctawhatchee CHOICE program has teamed up with the worlds PREMIER aviation university: Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide, to provide you college courses, weighted high school credits, and FAA
training paid for entirely by the Okaloosa County School District.
Okaloosa Aerospace Academy is the newest curriculum option for our students and reflects the business needs of our local community and students. Students will be learning applied math and science in a college atmosphere. These are not college prep! These are Embry Riddle courses with actual college credit!
ENGR 101 Intro to Engineering provides students the opportunity to learn drafting for engineers. In the spring, students can enroll in a class that focuses on computer aided design with the use of the 3D printer on our campus! Another exciting initiative is a partnership with CHS JROTC in teaching MGMT 203 Intro to Management and MGMT 295 Logistics Management which culminates in a certificate as a Global Logistics Associate, giving the students an advantage on management opportunities in the work force. Both of these programs are on campus at CHS and earn college credit and a fully weighted high school credit.
Our mainstay courses are Intro to Aeronautical Science and our capstone FAA Basic Ground School where one has the opportunity to pass the FAA Ground School exam free of charge so you are closer to actual flight time! Some examples of courses taught in the OAA are Aviation Physiology, Aviation Maintenance, Aeronautical Engineering, Flight Meteorology/Weather, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and other 100 and 200 level courses.
